Happy 4th Birthday, Little Ronnie!

On September 19, 2008, you were born, two years to the day from my Sophie.

You share her birthday and you share my heart.

Little Ronnie,

It’s been less than a year that I’ve been your Nanny. You showed up with the sweetest little personality and your parents thought something must be terribly wrong. For a long time, I didn’t believe their stories of how you act at home.

You were nervous at first but you let me into your heart. I wasn’t sure if we would ever get a glimpse of the you that your parents told us about. But we have.

There is a slight mischief about you. But not in a mean way. You love to pick and joke and I think you may have learned by now that Nanny does too. But you are also quick to listen to me and quick to apologize on the rare occasion you get in trouble.

I love the way you help me. You are always asking to help out. I’m sure your parents are shocked. I love the way you have become real friends with Gavin and Oliver. You’ve proven your love for them by sharing Bruce the shark with them. That is true love.

I love the way you laugh when I dance crazy and sing to you and the boys while you eat your lunch. I love how you watch the weather closely and almost always guess when it’s going to rain. I love how you get so excited when the garbage truck arrives. I love how you sometimes try to boss Gavin or Oliver Joseph if you think they’re about to get in trouble.

When I talk to you, you listen. I love how your eyebrows furrow and you nod your head slowly and look so intently at your Nanny. Like this:

I love this picture of you. You were in deep thought when I took it. This is how I see you sometimes when you don’t know I’m looking.

I love to hear you pray. I love how you want to learn and how you wanted to pray over our food so badly when we were at the beach with your family that you kept interrupting Courtney’s prayer. I love how you try to repeat every word I say even when we’re praying with Sophie before she goes to school.

You are soaking up life. I pray you will soak up Jesus too.

I hope you know how much your Nanny loves you. I am so blessed because of you. I know that God handpicked us to be together.

And I’m not sure I’ll ever be as special to you as Bruce, but I think I’m getting there.

I hope your birthday and your year is very special. May you catch lots of lizards this year.

I love you more than quiet naps!

Nanny
