If you were a blog…

what would you look like?

That’s the question my brother-in-law, Jerry, hopes to answer when he designs a blog.  And he certainly did with my new look here at insertgracehere and Ginger’s at heresmycuplord.

If you’re a blogger, I’m sure you’ll agree you want your blog to reflect who you are.  Those inviting tropical waves flowing in and out, the palm branches waving back and forth, the footprints in the sand, beach bottle search button, beach washed signs, the umbrella opening above my posts, the footer, and of course the avatars—they scream ME.  Ginger’s Cafe’ in her animated header with steam coming from those mugs, the gentle tapping of the fingers and the leg slowly kicking invites visitors to relax and stay a while and have a warm cup of coffee and reflects her love for Tuscany.  Her cafe’ style menu, the bar in her footer and her avatar are more details that scream GINGER.

These personal touches along with Jerry’s approach and communication with the blogger set him apart from others in blog design.  In preparation for a new design, Jerry will ask several specific questions that will enable him to get to the heart of who the blogger is.  His suggestions with layout as well as his advice on the mechanics of blogging will equip the blogger with tools that will enhance their posts and further their blog’s purpose.

For example, explaining the correct way to add a button or image to a widget in your sidebar will make for a better overall look of your blog.  And did you know that WordPress has a plugin for backup?  I didn’t.  This is a feature I know I can use.  And Jerry knows this all too well.  Currently, he is working on rebuilding my hard drive.  Thanks to him, I can breathe a sigh of relief because he managed to retrieve my pictures and documents that I was certain were gone forever.  Backup is very important.  With this plugin for WordPress, I don’t have to worry about that for my blog.
