O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!  Romans 11:33

That smile!  There’s just something about that smile.  After a sleepless night, all frustrations disappear with just one smile.

Over the holidays Gavin developed the gift of gab.  He’s not quite eight weeks old but he coos and squeals like he has so much to say.  I’ve found myself telling him the same silly things I told Sophie when she was an infant.

“Oh wise baby, tell us your great wisdom.”

And he does. Sure, it’s just baby talk.  But I can tell it’s very deep.

After a rough time with the little man Friday night, I woke up cranky and feeling slightly overwhelmed by a Saturday with his mommy gone to her first drill since maternity leave.   And then he started talking to me.

Those sweet sounds instantly reminded me of two very important words.  Words from Beth Moore via Bible study DVD.  Words that she had spoken to her own daughter after enduring sleepless nights with her newborn baby.  Words that spoke to the depths of my soul.  Words that I’ve repeated here over and over again since that Bible study night back in March.

Love covers.

Maybe Gavin’s wisdom isn’t really that deep.  But His wisdom is.
