The night before last, Courtney and her friend were getting ready to go eat at Chilis.  Sophie grabbed her play make-up bag from her room and headed to Courtney’s room to join them.  Moments later, she asked me for a polish for her make-up.

It only took a moment of insisting that she had play polish in her bag to realize what she really wanted was a cotton ball to use to apply her pretend make-up.  Before I could get it, she took off to my bedroom and then returned back to me with a pout.

“My Dad’s just being mean to me.  He won’t let me have polish ‘mover!”

“You don’t need polish remover, Sophie.  You need a cotton ball.”  And off I went to get it and explain to Joe that she did not, in fact, need polish ‘mover.

And that was settled.

But not for long before a struggle ensued with Sophie over a Chapstick she had retrieved from Cammie’s room and claimed all her own.  Determined to teach her that it’s stealing when we take things that do not belong to us, I insisted that she had to call and ask Cammie since the Chapstick was hers.  So we called her and Cammie very willingly gave the Chapstick to Sophie.

Back to the real drama before the phone call.  The chase was on when Sophie ran off to my bathroom with the stolen goods.  I had her cornered.  While I attempted the ridiculous and tried to reason with her, Courtney walked in announcing that they were leaving.

Clutching the Chapstick in her hand, Sophie held it out and then said with all the drama of a Soap actress, “I JUST WANT TO LOOK PERFECT!”

Heavy sigh.

***The above phrase was obviously repeated.  To protect the privacy of this person, she shall remain nameless.

Hey.  Check out this site:

http://www.secretkeepergirl.com/Bod_Squad_Petition.aspx

It’s a petition started by Dannah Gresh (author of Secret Keeper & The Bride Wore White) and it’s directed to clothing companies to get them to stop over-sexualizing young women with their clothing lines. Thought you would be interested since you have a toddler too.

Thanks, Rachel.  Clearly needed.

Let us pray.
